Prepare files for PCB assembly
Keep the fabrication, component and placement information on the same revision.
Prepare the file set
- PCB fabrication files for the board to be assembled.
- A bill of materials identifying each component and reference designator.
- A component placement file, also called CPL or pick-and-place data.
- An assembly drawing showing polarity, pin 1, orientation and any special instructions.
- Explicit instructions for components that must not be populated.
Check consistency
Use the same design revision for all files. Match the designators in the BOM, placement data and assembly drawing. Clearly identify top and bottom components and the units used in placement data.
Request assembly
Start from PCB Assembly or describe assembly requirements with your PCB enquiry. Ask support to confirm file acceptance, sourcing details and the assembly scope before the order is finalized.
